Bob Fisher and Daryn Okada
Daryn Okada, ASC has recently begun his second term as President of the American Society of Cinematographers, arguably during one of the most exciting times in the entertainment industry and in cinematography. The organization faces challenges and opportunities as the future unfolds, and in a lively and candid conversation, Daryn will address where cinematographers have to go, and how their vision and history will help them see the way. Bob Fisher is one of the most respected experts and journalists writing about Cinematography and cinematographers today.

Daryn Okada, ASC
Daryn Okada, ASC was born and raised in Los Angeles. He began taking black-and-white still photographs when he was 6 years old, and making Super 8 movies just a few years later. After graduating from high school, he found work as a projectionist at East Los Angeles City College. Okada began to volunteer to work on student films. By the late 1970s, he was working as a gaffer, grip and occasionally as a camera operator on ultra-low budget films while photographing commercials. He earned his first credit for Nomad Riders in 1981. Okada has subsequently compiled such narrative credits as Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken, Anna Karenina, Lake Placid, Dr. Dolittle 2, Mean Girls, Paparazzi, Just Like Heaven, Stick It, Sex and Death 101, Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, and Baby Mama. His work on the miniseries In A Child’s Name (1991) earned him an ASC Award nomination. He was recently re-elected president of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).

Bob Fisher
Bob Fisher is a native New Yorker, where he began his career at a now defunct newspaper. He migrated to Los Angeles for a six-month project writing about cinematography. The assignment was pure serendipity, and it became his life's work. Fisher has since authored a couple thousand-plus magazine articles about cinematographers and other filmmakers talking about their art form during the past 35-plus years. He has also moderated many panel discussions at film festivals, conferences and Internet chats for both the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and the International Cinematographers Guild (ICG).  In 2002, he was made an honorary member of the ASC.
